Former Professional Footballer & Performance Coach
Mel joined his home town club Wolverhampton Wanderers aged 18 as a full time professional footballer, where he went on to make 214 appearances and score 53 goals during his 9 years at Molineux. More international recognition was gained receiving England ‘B’ honours when he played under the legendary Sir Bobby Robson. Experiencing a career threatening injury aged 27,saw him leave Wolves and have spells at Manchester City, Sheffield United and Gillingham before having to retire from the game prematurely through injury.
Following 20 years of acting as a football agent, is now a fully qualified Performance Master Coach, helping to transform people to play and perform to their maximum potential, whether that be on the field or in business.
Born in Wolverhampton Keith was educated at Bilston Grammar School before attending college in Wednesbury where he gained a professional degree as a member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators .
Always a keen sportsman, Keith’s involvement nowadays is dominated by ferrying his youngest son to football and athletic events. Keith has been a musician and entertainer for over 5 decades. In the 90’s he managed young bands with the aim of helping them avoid the pitfalls of the industry which are not so readily apparent to ambitious youngsters. “As I’ve grown older, I’ve come to realise that life isn’t about the size of our bank balance, or flash cars and big houses, It’s about being able to give others a hand when they need it. I see the SPA as my chance to make a positive contribution towards the well- being of young people. In years to come I know that lives will be changed for the better as a result of what we have set in motion.”
Former International Athlete and Consultant Phyisiotherapist
A former international athlete, Mike is a Consultant physiotherapist with over 30 years’ experience, including time as an NHS consultant physiotherapist and honorary lecturer, researcher and private practitioner at Birmingham University.
Mike became head clinical physiotherapist for British athletics teams and attended numerous world championships, commonwealth games and was head Physiotherapist at three Olympic Games.
He now works at his own clinic in Edgbaston Birmingham and is married to former Olympic athlete and gold medallist Sonia Lannaman MBE. They have one son who is a professional footballer for Gillingham and is a product of the West Bromwich Albion academy system.
Former England Rugby Union International and Strength & Conditioning Specialist
Spencer Brown is highly respected as one of the top human movement specialists in the UK. He has spent much of this time teaching the principles and practice of Strength & Conditioning, performance training and functional movement; mentoring up-and-coming sports performance trainers, many who have gone into the profession and made a big impact themselves.
Since 2003, Spencer has taught foundation movement to beginning youngsters and helped young amateur athletes to professional athletes become quicker, faster and stronger whilst reducing their risk of injury. With the release of the ground breaking Performance Deficit Test (PDT) in 2008, Spencer revolutionised the way health professionals approached musculoskeletal injury risk and subsequent treatment.
Spencer spent 10 years as a professional Rugby Player, and was a member of the England Elite squad for three years.

Marks impeccable track record speaks for itself; 1st team Scout at Blues under Alex McLeish, Centre of Excellence Director at Blues, Head of Recruitment at Blues Academy, Head of Recruitment at Coventry City FC Academy, Head of Youth at Wycombe Wanderers Fc and also Skills Coach and Head of Recruitment at Walsall FC Youth.
And yet as far as the SPA is concerned, he cites his most important attribute as being the father of 2 boys who have been at Academies. One son having spent 1 year at WBA and 4 years at Blues, with his 12 year old brother having now been at Blues for 2 years.
Mark’s experience and first-hand knowledge is invaluable to parents as they negotiate their way through the football academy system. He says “It is the parents who do ‘fight their sons corner’ that end up happiest and often they gain respect from the Academy staff who know that they need to do things correctly around these people.”

Qualified as an NLP (Nuero Linguistic Programming) Master Practitioner and Hypnotherapist, trainer, presenter, life coach and energy therapist, Karen has been passionate about coaching parents since she discovered the skills, tools and techniques she learnt that helped change her relationship with her three sons for the better. Sons with disabilities, physical and psychological, medical conditions and labels; Asperger’s syndrome, ADHD, dyslexia and social and behavioural difficulties.
She now shares ways to improve family relationships and encourages ways to reconnect, feel more in control of life again and enjoy a happy family life. Teaching effective communication tools that help parents really connect with their children and feel confident about parenting. Karen’s time is devoted to helping parents and young people to be the best they can be and live happy, fulfilling and successful lives.
